pay it forward...

One day, I was in my studio when a gentleman came in and told me he had been walking by all week and wanted to know what was going on in this super colorful store full of kids and adults all laughing! so I explained, and he filled me in on his story...his brother was down the street at the hospital getting cancer treatment, and would we mind if he stopped in when visiting hours were over and maybe eat his lunch with us? OF COURSE! so we got to know skipper, then his sister in law fran, as joe went through treatment, then one day skipper came in to say goodbye, joe was going home, and skipper was heading back to florida. but lucky for me, this is not how the story ended :) one day, a handsome cowboy walked in the door and said “hi, I’m joe!” and we were very happy to see him indeed! so joe tells me he talked to his brother and found out I like to do community work, especially with kids, and he had an idea, since the kids in cancer treatment had helped him make it through the hard times, he wanted to pay it forward, and how would I feel about making mosaics with them and he’d help fund it? would I ever! and the partnership was born! and though we lost joe shortly after that to that awful cancer, his kind consideration lives on in the mosaic project at the hospital, and the river trips his family provide through their 501 charity www.RiverDiscovery.org
so, if after hearing this story, you feel the urge to help, you can donate to us for the mosaic materials at http://reham.chipin.com/the-childrens-hospital-mosaic-project , donate time (can you cut wood shapes for the kids?) or help with pick up/drop off when needed.
*A big thank you to our new anonymous wood cutting super helper, we owe you big time :)http://www.RiverDiscovery.orghttp://reham.chipin.com/the-childrens-hospital-mosaic-projecthttp://reham.chipin.com/the-childrens-hospital-mosaic-projectshapeimage_2_link_0shapeimage_2_link_1shapeimage_2_link_2
